Oregon Historical Society Chief Kerry Tymchuk said Wieden + Kennedy was vital for Portland.

"Similarly as organizations like Nike and Columbia made Portland ground zero for the activewear business, Dan Wieden and Wieden + Kennedy made it ground zero for the imaginative business," Tymchuk said. "Other publicizing firsts, other advertising firms continued to come to Oregon since they started out at Wieden + Kennedy or were drawn in here to what Wieden + Kennedy was doing."

Kennedy kicked the bucket very nearly a year prior at 82 years old.

Wieden was brought up in Portland, moving on from Award Secondary School and the College of Oregon, where he procured a degree in news-casting. Wiedne upheld and made nearby non-benefits.

Dan Wieden's family asks that recognitions be made as gifts to Caldera Expressions, a non-benefit he made that upholds Oregon understudies and specialists.
